Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data the Cognico app and the cognico.app website collect, why, and what your choices are. The short version: your plan belongs to you. We collect only what the app needs to work, we show no ads, we run no third-party ad or analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.

1. Data we collect

Account data

• Email address and name — when you create an account with email or through Sign in with Apple / Google. Apple lets you hide your real email; that works with Cognico.
• Profile photo (optional) — only if you choose to upload an avatar.

App data you create

• Time clusters, task pools and tasks, reminders and their schedules, focus-session activity (which pool, when, how long), achievements progress, and app settings.
• This data is stored on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to your account so it survives reinstalls and works across devices.

Purchase data

• If you subscribe, the purchase is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details. We receive only the subscription status (active plan, renewal/expiry) needed to unlock Pro features.

What we do not collect

• No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, no data brokers.
• No third-party behavioural analytics.
• No precise location, contacts, or health data. Cognico's notifications are scheduled locally on your device.

2. Why we process it (legal bases)

• To provide the Service (contract): account sign-in, storing and syncing your plan, unlocking a purchased subscription.
• To keep the Service safe (legitimate interest): abuse prevention, essential operational logs.
• With your consent: optional things like your avatar photo. You can withdraw consent by removing it.

3. Where your data lives

Synced data is hosted for us by Supabase (managed Postgres, authentication and file storage). Access is protected by row-level security — every row is readable and writable only by the account that owns it. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Avatar images are stored in a storage bucket tied to your account.

4. Service providers

We share data only with processors that are necessary to run the Service, and only the minimum they need:

• Supabase — database, authentication and storage hosting.
• Apple / Google — sign-in (if you use Sign in with Apple or Google) and subscription billing.
• RevenueCat — subscription status management (receipt validation), identified by a pseudonymous user ID.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. How long we keep it

Your account data and synced content are kept while your account exists. If you delete your account, your account record and all synced content (clusters, pools, tasks, reminders, activity, achievements, settings, avatar) are permanently deleted. Purely local data on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or delete it from the device.

6. Your rights and controls

• Delete your account — in the app: Profile → Account → Delete account. This is immediate and irreversible.
• Access, correct, export — your plan is visible and editable in the app; for a data export or anything you cannot do in-app, email us.
• EU/EEA & UK users — you have GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

7. Children

Cognico is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
